On May 31st, 2007, the players that are involved in high-profile gaming cheating scam strategies to steal some money from Casino Rama used an elaborate old school cheating strategies.
OPP Sgt. Bob Patterson said that this was not an Ocean’s Eleven, comparing the case to the Hollywood film where George Clooney and his cohorts used the latest technology to cheat a Las Vegas based casino.
Patterson contradicted reports that the suspects that have been arrested in connection with the international scam that are using electronic transmitter and other state of the art devices to cheat at casino games especially mini-baccarat.
Police Officers that are involved with the four year investigation in the casino scam commented that the suspects relied on basic methods to cheat the casino. Patterson said that the cheaters used sleight of the hand and shuffling methods to confuse players. He said that the technique is not something new but the cheaters improved it by adjusting and improving it.
A lot of employees of the casino were arrested last week in a North American raid that aims to close down the cheating ring. The police officers said that casino dealers working on both sides of the continent were hired by crime organizations to help cheat at the card games.
In Ontario, Canada, at least, the suspected casino dealers were allegedly using a technique known as a false shuffle, to predetermine the result of the games. The total loss that the casino suffered is more than $2 million dollars. The Casino Rama in Ontario is believed to be the lone casino in area to be hit by the cheating ring.
The United States division of the investigation was led by the FBI. The investigation of the FBI involves eight states including Michigan, Indiana and Nevada. Casino Rama already assured their customers that they are doing everything that they can to assure the security of their games.
Casino officials also assured their customers that it is just an isolated incident. CEO Harry Oshanski said that the system that they have placed works because of the arrests that were made. Police officers are unable to comment on the matter at the moment because of the investigation.
